Massage + Bodywork
Inhabit Your Body | Cultivate Soul

Touch seems to be as essential as sunlight.
Touch is the first language we speak.
Diane Ackerman
Depth-Oriented Bodywork
This unique style of massage was born from a combination of my formal training, education from mentors and my graduate studies in somatic and depth psychology.
This study and practice has led me to a primary conclusion: that before we do, we must listen. Our bodies hold stories as much as they hold tension. In slowing down and becoming curious, we are letting the symptoms speak and be known.
When the body is allowed to speak, it reveals itself as a vibrant and communicative subject. When we rush to fix, or dominate the flesh, we turn the body into an object of manipulation. Over my years practicing in the healing arts, I have found that the best outcomes happen when we work collaboratively with the intelligence of our bodies and the agenda of our Psyche (which may be quite different that what our egos want).

“Body work is soul work. Imagination is the bridge between body and soul.”
Marion Woodman
What Can I Expect from a Session?
Each session is unique and tailored to meet you where you are. Typically, we’ll begin with a brief conversation to orient to what’s present for you emotionally, and physically. From there, the session may include gentle education, guided somatic meditation, and traditional massage. The heart of the work is a body-led exploration, meaning we follow the cues of your own system rather than forcing a specific method.
Depending on what arises, we might incorporate nevous-system centered massage, energy work, somatic parts work, or active imagination. Some sessions are quiet and internal while others may invite expression, movement, or release. All are rooted in a foundation of deep listening. We listen to your body’s wisdom, to the right hemisphere of the brain, and to what is ready to emerge at the time of your booking. This work emphasizes the experience rather than the analysis, which is how you gain somatic wisdom.
This is not work I do "to" you, rather it is something we do together.
Over time, you may notice a growing sense of self-trust, clearer boundaries, a deeper connection to intuition, and the ability to meet life’s challenges with greater embodiment and inner alignment.
What If I Just Want a Tradtional Massage?
I hear ya. Sometimes, the thing we need most in the moment is grounded, caring touch.
Massage clients are usually coming from a variety of places:
-
Those who are stressed out, over-worked, under-resourced and need a place to rest and receive without being asked to do one more thing. These people usually have a revved-up nervous system and couldn’t begin to think about listening to their body when all it’s been doing is screaming at them to take a break. Often, massage is the best option.
-
People who are already living quite self-actualized lives. They have satisfying careers, fulfilling relationships, know where they are going, and just want a place for a physical tune-up.
-
People who are doing the work of embodiment and self-reflection elsewhere. Many of my clients are therapists, bodyworkers and healers, or they have a fantastic support system of others with whom they are already doing this work, and come to Invoke for complementary bodywork.
-
Total skeptics. I get it. If I had read my own website 15 years ago, I’m not sure I would have been in a place to believe that I could learn to listen my body and that it would help lead me into a life of purpose. However, I would have been very open to a relaxing massage!
If any of these resonate with you, rest assured that you can come to Invoke for a massage grounded in traditional Swedish massage techniques, subtle myofascial work, lymphatic drainage, and nervous-system supportive touch. Booking is the same. Just mention this at the time of your arrival or on your intake.

What Clients Say
Rachel's approach to body and soul work has been a profound help in my health and wellness. I first came to her in a deep time of need. I was recovering from a major health issue as well as grieving the death of my mom.
Her ability to create space and understanding through her tarot practice as well as hands-on massage techniques and skills created a sense of tranquility and hope.
In a time where I was feeling uncertain within my body she helped create a new, more true, and more loving relationship with myself.

What Clients Say
"Sessions with Rachel are quite extraordinary experiences for me. She has an ability to tap into energy within the body and put words to what she is "seeing."
Things she has described to me during our session resonate with a deeper purpose and uncannily have show up in my life at later times. Her work, whether it is with tarot or massage, creates an other-worldly flow that unlocks intuition, feminine energy and restores balance into my chaotic days.
I feel extremely lucky that I have been able to work with her in this capacity."
